So I thought...

Are we truly ready? There was a time when I would have said yes, that I had lived a fulfilled life... I would have been wrong! What would have made me think this? Youth, arrogance? Possibly a little (or a lot) of both. The thing that has drastically changed my opinion on this subject is my journey to Christ. Even though my journey is still new and I have a ways to go on my path, I know now that I am truly not ready.

Let's get going....

Now that Scott has all set up (thanks Scott!) and mom doesn't have to blog from a cell block, it's time to discuss.
So, why don't we begin with Em's 1st question: "Why aren't we ready for Christ to come?" Or, why don't we seem eager to proclaim, "Even so come Lord Jesus"?

To Em's first question - yes, we should live in expectancy that "today may be the day". Yet, we live in THIS world NOW with many distractions and detriments. Things that cause us to doubt our faith or cause us to think we are not ready. We will never be ready if we think we have to earn it. We are ready the moment we make that decision to follow and grow in him. Then it's a matter of being alert to his coming. . . living each day in that expectancy

Hi family bloggers. Don't know how this works, but will give it a try. My comment doesn't relate directly to our book, but is about death & life. I was completely blown away and enchanted by the WCS production of Our Town. The play asks all the questions about life , through the simple lives of the citizens of Geover's Corners(our town). I loved it, and regret that we didn't make plans to see it together. In the final scene, Emily, the main character, asks from th grave: 'do human beings ever realize life while they live it? Every, every minute?' I know our topic is heaven, but to realize the beauty and sacredness of our God-given life on earth might make our eternal life to come even more significant. After all, we are storing up treasures in heaven. Mimi xox

I read Rev 22:20 after the reading....

Jesus promises He will come again, and right before his closing benediction John writes "Come, Lord Jesus!".

Something I rarely think or focus my faith on... Am I as eager and excited as John? Am I as prepared to leave here and be with Jesus as Paul?

We don't know when He is returning, but do we treat each morning as if "today is the day"? Are we truly ready?
